THE PROBLEM

Many talented art students and emerging artists possess significant potential, yet they often face challenges in showcasing their work and establishing their presence. The art industry places a premium on networking and resources, making these elements essential for success. Currently, there is no single comprehensive platform dedicated to addressing the specific needs of these individuals and facilitating the presentation of their talents.

THE BADGE SYSTEM

The three essential features, namely SHOWCASE, MAGAZINE, and COMPETITION, have been specifically requested by client to showcase artistic talents, foster networking, and highlight ongoing competitions. While there are limited resources to address the stated problem, the UI design endeavors to create a more efficient and accurate user experience, providing a streamlined and accessible way for users to explore and engage with these key features.

Against this backdrop, the creation of the distinctive badge system emerged as a pivotal solution, which operates as a dual-function mechanism, incorporating both levels and filtering functions. This system not only enriches the interactive experience but also customizes services for individual users by refining information through designated badge categories. Simultaneously, users can accumulate  diverse  badges  by  achieving  various  milestones, such as uploading a specific number of works or receiving a substantial number of comments.

BADGE PROFILE

BADGE LEVEL

The 'level' component serves as an incentive system, motivating users to explore, participate, and upload more artworks or events. As an illustration, uploading a movie-related artwork earns you a level 1 "movie star" badge. Upon uploading or participating in five movie-related works, users advance to level 2.

These badges not only reflect achievements but also act as filters for other users seeking specific content. For instance, acquiring a "movie star" badge enables users to filter and discover all artworks and events related to movies. This intricate badge system not only encourages user engagement but also enhances the platform's functionality by providing a personalized and efficient way for users to navigate and connect with relevant content.

UI KIT

In developing the UI kit, the primary objective was to establish a branding identity of youthfulness and energy. The selected color palettes are light and less saturated, creating a visually dynamic aesthetic. Given that showing many artworks often incorporate overwhelmed layers of colors and information, the website's color scheme is intentionally subdued to ensure it doesn't overshadow the vibrancy of the showcased works.

SITE MAP

Based on the initial features and information requested by the client, I have structured a comprehensive list of functionalities. The website is segmented into three primary categories with vital features outlined under the 'SERVICE' section. This includes key elements such as showcase, magazine, competition, and the potential for additional features to be incorporated in the future.

LANDING PAGE & LOGIN

The landing page serves as a dynamic showcase for featured artworks, not only providing effective promotion for artists but also infusing the website with an active atmosphere. As users scroll down, they encounter the SERVICE and ACCESS sections, presented through card slides that offer the potential for additional features in the future.

Upon logging into their accounts, users are able to modify their personal information and review badge levels. The badge profile design maintains consistency with the visualization of badge levels and filters, creating a cohesive and user-friendly experience.

“SHOWCASE” PAGE

The SHOWCASE feature stands as a primary function for presenting artists' works. The default mood showcases the most popular works, featuring enlarged cards for a visually compelling experience. When users apply badge filters along with selected artists, the results become more refined and accurate, ensuring a tailored presentation of artworks that align with specific preferences.

“MAGAZINE” PAGE

The 'MAGAZINE' feature serves as a platform for broadcasting on-site events. The primary filter is based on badges, complemented by secondary filtering through map locations. This feature creates valuable opportunities for artists to come together, fostering networking and collaboration. Additionally, artists can leverage this platform to host their own art events, showcasing their works or organizing events for charitable donations.

“COMPETITION” PAGE

The COMPETITION feature is designed to showcase ongoing competitions, with filtering options based on badges and timelines. These competitions are accessible online, allowing users to view participants and their submitted works after selecting a specific competition. This feature provides a comprehensive overview competition and enhancing the user experience by facilitating exploration.

MOBILE VERSION

To ensure optimal accessibility across various platforms, Pigment has been developed with a responsive design catering to mobile users. The card display design has been crafted to seamlessly adapt to mobile screens, offering users a perfect and visually appealing interface for effortless exploration.
